Watching a dog realize a big stick won’t fit through the door of his home is pure comedy gold. And that’s exactly what we see in this video from @julius_the_bub. After finding the perfect trophy in the backyard, Julius, a very determined Bullmastiff, decided his prize absolutely needed to come inside the house, and that’s where the comedy began.
According to his bio, he is just a one-year-old pup, and in the clip, he is fully living up to his “bub” nickname as he trotts toward the entrance. Julius is totally convinced that his plan will work. He just needs a bit of luck.
Dog adorably tries to bring a big stick home for third time but fails
The video, which already has thousands of likes, shows him approaching the doorway as if he’s done it a hundred times before. He holds the wood horizontally in his mouth. Mom warns him, “It’s not going to fit, bub,” but he ignores her. Then a loud “bonk” echoes as the stick hits the frame. This dog really thought he had the perfect angle this time.
You can see the look of utter shock on his face. His mom tells viewers in the caption that this was attempt number 3 for him to bring the stick in. Then he tries to hold the stick diagonally, and when mom comes near him, trying to help, he retreats. And then he walks away from the steps, the big stick still in his mouth. He’s clearly working out the geometry of this problem.
Over 4,300 people have already liked this clip on his page, and the comments are loving it — “That bonk was the best,” one says, while another admits, “I’ve watched this 50 times!” because it actually is so funny.
Someone asked whether his next attempt worked, and his owner replied that it did not. Still, Julius remained completely undeterred by the doorway. Well, you’ve got to give him points for determination if not for execution. Hopefully, he found a way to get his trophy inside, or at least let his mom help him.
