A dog named Milo patiently waits outside his neighbor’s house, hoping to meet her, in an adorable Instagram video from @frankielovesmilo. In the video, Milo refuses to move from the sidewalk, no matter how hard his mom convinces him to — all because he wants to meet his beloved neighbor, Miss Pam.
The on-screen text explains what he expects every evening, reading, “Milo likes to stop and visit with the little old ladies every night.” But unfortunately, “Tonight no one was outside.”

In the video, the dog stands before his neighbor’s house, wearing a harness as his mom gently pulls his leash, trying to take him home. Then the video adds the reason why standing there is so important for Milo, as it explains, “our neighbor Pam hasn’t been doing good lately…she doesn’t remember who I am. But she remembers Milo.”
Milo’s owner tries to talk him through it, speaking to him while he holds his ground. She tells him, “Come on, Milo. She’s not out,” and reassures him, “We’ll come see Miss Pam tomorrow. I know you wanna check on her. She’s not outside. We’ll come back tomorrow.” Moreover, she tells him she understands, “I know you love Miss Pam.”
Milo eventually turns around and takes a few steps, but then pulls the same move again at another house. His owner laughs and tells him, “Alright, we’re not stopping by Miss Janet’s either. Come on! Miss Janet’s not out either,” as she tugs at the leash and says, “Come on, Milo.” However, Milo sits and refuses to budge.

The reason this kind of thing happens is that dogs learn routes and landmarks pretty quickly, and they connect places with people and rewards, including attention, a kind voice, maybe a treat, maybe just the feeling of someone loving them. Hence, the dog in this video might not understand that his neighbor is unwell, but he knows he needs to wait for her outside her house.
