A gentle bond between animals reveals something deeply meaningful about true friendship, especially when one helps the other in moments of need. This is beautifully captured in this video, where a cat is seen encouraging a senior dog to get down the stairs safely.
The owner shared that the stairs are actually good for her dog, Oakley, whose physical therapy is ongoing and who is on supplements. She was pleasantly surprised to see her cat helping the dog get down the stairs, making sure he is okay.
Cat makes sure senior dog friend is not left behind
The video captures a sweet bond between a cat and a senior dog. In a clip shared by @whiskeytoller on Instagram, a kitty is seen guiding his older sibling as he walks down the stairs. In the clip’s on-screen caption, the owner shared that she couldn’t understand why her cat kept meowing while her 14-year-old dog waited at the top of the stairs to walk down. What actually happened was that the cat was making sounds to guide his older sibling. He also reassurred him that it was safe to walk down and that he could do it.
The clip even shows the cat walking ahead of him, and stepping down the stairs first. It is as if he is demonstrating how it’s done. The dog understands the gesture and carefully makes his way down, where he meets his little guide waiting for him. The video ends with the two of them looking at each other, almost as if saying, “Mission accomplished.”
The owner shared that the stairs are good for Oakley. Moreover, they have placed non-slip mats and rugs to ensure he can walk safely and land properly without slipping. They also mentioned that Oakley “was stiff after waking up.” However, the gentle encouragement from the cat seems to be giving him confidence and motivation. The caption ended by saying that the dog is doing great for his age. Moreover, the owners are making sure to keep him as comfortable as possible.
